RISE Projects was highly commended in the Arts, Culture and
Heritage category at the Haringey Community Showcase & Awards
2024, recognising our work creating spaces where culture,
heritage and community participation can be celebrated.
The annual showcase brought together voluntary and community
organisations from across Haringey to celebrate local work,
build connections and recognise the contribution organisations
make to communities across the borough.
RISE was recognised for its cultural work and its wider
commitment to creating opportunities for residents to connect,
participate and celebrate the heritage and experiences that
shape their communities.
Culture as a space for connection
Cultural activity has become an important part of RISE's wider
community work because it creates opportunities for people to
come together in ways that are welcoming, positive and rooted
in shared experience.
Our cultural events bring together residents, families,
community organisations and local leaders, creating spaces
for storytelling, performance, conversation and connection
across generations.
Building a growing community tradition
A major part of the recognition was RISE's 2024 Black History
Month Cultural Night, which had reached its third year and
continued to grow as a community event.
The evening created a vibrant space for cultural expression,
storytelling and community participation, while reinforcing the
importance of heritage and identity within local community life.

learning about opportunities and becoming more connected with
