HOUSING & ADVICE AT RISE

Practical help when things feel difficult to navigate.

Housing, benefits and welfare systems can be difficult to understand, particularly when someone is already dealing with pressure at home, financial uncertainty or problems with their housing situation.

RISE provides accessible community-based support that helps residents understand their options, take practical next steps and connect with the right services when specialist help is needed.

01

Understand your options

Make information clearer and help residents understand the possible routes available to them.

02

Take practical next steps

Support people to identify what they can do next rather than feeling stuck within complicated systems.

03

Reach the right support

Connect residents with Council services, specialist organisations and other appropriate sources of help.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Start with the issue in front of you.

Residents do not need to know which department, service or organisation they need before speaking to RISE. We can help make the situation clearer and identify an appropriate next step.

03

Haringey Housing Drop-In

04

Referrals & Service Navigation

Where an issue requires specialist, statutory or more detailed support, we help residents understand where to go next and connect with appropriate organisations and services.

START AT THE RISE HUB

You do not need to understand the system before asking for help.

Sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to begin. The RISE Hub provides a community-based starting point where residents can explain what is happening, understand possible options and work out what support may be appropriate.

A SIMPLE PLACE TO START
01
Tell us what is happening

Start with the situation rather than trying to identify the right service yourself.

02
Understand the next step

We help make information clearer and identify practical actions that may help.

03
Connect with further support

Where necessary, we can help identify other services or organisations better placed to support the issue.

RESEARCH & COMMUNITY EVIDENCE

Turning people's experiences into evidence.

Individual housing problems can also reveal wider patterns. RISE uses community engagement and research to better understand recurring issues and bring residents' experiences into wider discussions about housing and local services.

Understanding housing through the community.

Our housing work has included interviews, focus groups and community research exploring the experiences of residents and the barriers they face within the housing system.

This has included the Somali Housing Needs Assessment, helping build a stronger evidence base around housing experiences and creating opportunities for those findings to be shared with local decision-makers.

This combination of direct support and community evidence helps RISE respond to immediate issues while also contributing to longer-term conversations about how services can improve.

OUR APPROACH

Good advice starts with understanding the whole situation.

People rarely experience housing or welfare problems in isolation. Our approach starts with listening, understanding what is happening and helping residents identify a realistic way forward.

01
Listen first

Understand the resident's situation before deciding what information, support or referral may be useful.

02
Make things clearer

Help people understand information, options and practical next steps without adding more complexity.

03
Connect to the right support

Recognise when specialist help is needed and help residents navigate towards an appropriate service.

04
Learn from community experience

Identify recurring issues and use community insight to contribute to wider discussions about services and need.
