Bringing health and wellbeing closer to the community.
RISE creates trusted spaces where residents can become more active, access useful health information, talk openly about wellbeing and connect with services.
Our approach combines regular activities with prevention, culturally relevant engagement and partnerships that bring specialist health information and support directly into community settings.
Be active
Accessible physical activity supporting fitness, confidence, routine and social connection.
Understand your health
Clear information about prevention, screening, symptoms and taking action earlier.
Feel supported
Trusted spaces for conversation, connection and routes into further health and wellbeing support.
Health support in everyday community spaces.
Our health work ranges from weekly physical activity to targeted awareness campaigns, mental health engagement, pop-up clinics and opportunities for residents to meet NHS and health professionals directly in trusted community settings.
Fit, Fun & Fab
A welcoming weekly exercise programme helping women become more active, improve fitness and build confidence in a friendly and supportive environment.
Sessions also create opportunities for social connection, helping participants develop healthier routines while meeting other women from the local community.
Stronger Men, Healthier Neighbourhoods
A regular community space bringing men together around health, wellbeing, physical activity and social connection.
The programme creates opportunities for open conversations about health while connecting participants with useful information, visiting organisations and practical support.
Community Health Workshops & Cancer Awareness
RISE works with health partners to bring clear, practical health information directly into the community, creating opportunities for residents to learn and ask questions.
Our awareness work has included bowel, lung and prostate cancer alongside information about symptoms, screening, early detection and when to seek further advice.
Culturally relevant mental health support
RISE works with communities and health partners to create trusted conversations around mental health, improve awareness and strengthen routes into appropriate support.
We recognise that language, culture, stigma, trust and previous experiences of services can influence whether someone feels comfortable asking for help.
Our role is to help reduce those barriers and make it easier for residents and families to understand and access support.
Pop-up Health Clinics
Pop-up clinics bring health support directly into community settings, helping residents engage with professionals in environments that feel accessible and familiar.
Clinics can create opportunities for health checks, conversations, practical information and advice without residents always having to navigate unfamiliar services first.
They also give health organisations an opportunity to build relationships and better understand the communities they serve.
NHS Workshops & Visiting Services
RISE works with NHS teams and other health organisations to bring specialist knowledge, workshops and services directly into the community.
Residents can meet professionals, ask questions and learn about services in a familiar environment, while partners can engage communities through trusted local relationships.
These sessions also give communities opportunities to share their experiences and help services understand barriers around access, communication and engagement.
Health engagement starts with trust.
Information alone does not always change how people engage with their health. Relationships, culture, confidence and accessibility matter too.
We create opportunities for health conversations in environments where people already feel comfortable participating.
We help residents understand symptoms, screening, prevention and the importance of accessing support earlier.
We consider language, culture, trust and community experience when communicating about health and wellbeing.
Partnerships allow health professionals, information and specialist support to reach residents through trusted community settings.
Health does not sit separately from everyday life.
A resident may first connect with RISE through a health workshop and later need support with housing, employment or family life. Someone else may join a community group and discover a health activity or visiting service through that relationship.
Programmes including RISE Motherhood, family support and youth activities also contribute to people's wellbeing even where health is not their main purpose.
This connected approach allows people to start with RISE rather than having to understand every service or referral pathway before asking for help.
