Creating spaces where people can connect and support one another.
RISE brings people together through regular groups, community networks, workshops, cultural events and opportunities to take part in local life.
Our aim is to create welcoming spaces where residents can build relationships, share experiences, access useful support and have a stronger voice in the community around them.
Connect
Build relationships, reduce isolation and meet others through regular trusted community spaces.
Take part
Join activities, workshops, events and opportunities that strengthen participation in community life.
Have a voice
Create opportunities for residents to share experiences, influence discussions and connect with decision-makers.
Different ways to connect with RISE.
Some people first connect with RISE through a weekly group, others through an event, workshop, community network or opportunity to contribute. Each creates a route into wider relationships, support and participation.
RISE Motherhood
A welcoming weekly space for mothers and women with children to meet, connect and take part in activities in a supportive community environment.
Sessions create opportunities for peer connection, practical information, workshops and engagement with visiting services, while giving mothers space to share experiences and build relationships with others.
Empowered Women’s Network
A weekly community space where women can connect, share experiences and take part in organised activities and discussions.
The Network also creates opportunities to meet local services, hear from visiting organisations and take part in workshops around issues that matter to women and families.
Community Networks & Voice
RISE creates spaces where residents, grassroots organisations and public services can come together to share information, discuss local priorities and strengthen relationships.
Through networks such as the Somali Network, community discussions, consultations and strategic engagement, we help bring community experience into conversations with the Council, NHS and wider voluntary and community sector.
Community Events & Culture
Community events create opportunities to celebrate culture, strengthen identity and bring together residents, families, organisations and different generations.
Somali Culture Night is one of RISE's flagship community events, bringing people together around culture, heritage, performance and shared community life.
Community Workshops & Visiting Services
RISE brings organisations into trusted community spaces so residents can access useful information, ask questions and connect directly with services.
We have worked with organisations including the International Organization for Migration, Council services, NHS teams and voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to deliver workshops, engagement and practical information.
This approach helps services reach residents through existing community relationships while making information more accessible and easier to engage with.
Getting involved with RISE
Community participation does not have to stop at attending an activity. We create opportunities for people to contribute, gain experience and become more involved in the work around them.
This can include volunteering, supporting community events, contributing to local activities and providing work experience opportunities for students.
As people build confidence and experience, RISE aims to create routes into greater responsibility, community participation and wider opportunities.
Strong communities are built through relationships.
Community work is not only about delivering activities. It is about creating spaces where people feel welcome, connected and able to participate in what happens around them.
Places where residents can arrive without needing to know exactly which service or programme they need.
Bringing people together around shared experiences, relationships and community life.
Creating routes for residents to contribute to discussions, consultations and decisions affecting their communities.
Using trusted community spaces and relationships to connect residents directly with organisations and support.
One connection can open the door to wider support.
Someone may first come to RISE through Motherhood, a women's group, a community event or a local network and later discover support around health, housing, employment or young people.
Others may begin by attending an activity and gradually become volunteers, contributors or participants in wider community work.
This is why our programmes are connected. The relationship built through one part of RISE can help someone find their next step somewhere else in the organisation or through one of our partners.
Find a space to connect, participate and feel part of the community.
