RISE Projects Receives Community Acknowledgement Award from Dahabshiil Bank

RISE Projects co-founders receiving a Community Acknowledgement Award from Dahabshiil

RISE Projects was recognised with a Community Acknowledgement Award from Dahabshiil, celebrating the organisation's work supporting young people, families and communities across Tottenham and Haringey.

The recognition was presented on 29 February 2024 during the opening of Dahabshiil's new headquarters in East London, where RISE co-founders Awale Elmi and Ahmed Mohamed accepted the award on behalf of the organisation.

The occasion brought together community leaders, businesses and organisations working across the Somali community and provided an opportunity to recognise the contribution of people and organisations creating positive change.

Recognition of RISE's community work

Since its establishment, RISE has focused on creating practical support, trusted spaces and opportunities for people who can often face barriers when accessing mainstream services.

That work has grown across youth engagement, health and wellbeing, family support, housing and welfare advice, employment support and wider community activity.

Receiving the award was therefore not simply recognition of one event or programme. It reflected the sustained work of staff, volunteers, partners and residents who have helped RISE grow and strengthen its role within the community.

“Receiving the Community Acknowledgement Award is a tremendous honour. This award shines a light on the hard work we do to provide opportunities and support for young people and the community.”

Built through collective effort

While the award was accepted by RISE's co-founders, the recognition reflects a much wider collective effort.

RISE's work depends on staff and volunteers building trusted relationships with residents, young people participating in programmes, local families engaging with activities and partner organisations helping bring services and opportunities closer to communities.

That collaborative approach has been central to RISE's development and continues to shape how the organisation works.

COMMUNITY RECOGNITION

A milestone in RISE's journey.

Recognition from organisations within the wider community matters because it reflects the relationships that RISE has built over time. It also strengthens our determination to keep developing an organisation that can provide trusted support, create opportunities and bring communities and services closer together.

Looking ahead

Recognition is important, but RISE's focus remains on what comes next.

We want to continue strengthening our youth work, health and wellbeing programmes, family and community activity, practical advice and opportunities while building stronger partnerships with organisations that share our commitment to local communities.

As RISE continues to grow, we remain focused on building an organisation rooted in the community and capable of creating long-term impact.
